We were shopping for a client last week, and the plan for a relaxed bedroom took a turn in a different direction. This particular room includes pale walls, lots of woven natural materials (rattan, seagrass, white linen) and some block-printed cotton in shades of blue and green. We’re doing unmatched vintage night tables on either side of the bed, and we bought some attractive tables that are in rough shape because we wanted to refinish them in a glossy blue paint. The approved lamps for the room were a set of large white porcelain cylinders.
But even the best laid plans can stray slightly. When we found these vintage matched blue glass lamps at a local resale shop, we knew they would be perfect for this particular bedroom. The fact that they’re in fantastic shape and HUGE is just a bonus. They’ll be fitted with new harps and shades and live happily on those unmatched tables- which will no longer be blue (thankfully they’re not at the refinisher yet). We’re now looking at shades of green paint from olive drab to acid-tinged avocado. Here are a few images that are inspiring this clean blue/ dirty green palette.
