With everyone tightening their grip on their checkbook (ourselves included), we’re finding that we have to incorporate more items from ready-made lines that are widely available to the masses. One source that we have used quite a bit as of lately is West Elm. In the past, West Elm’s furniture has been a bit blocky and modular looking, but things are changing for this company. They seem to be embracing a slightly more eclectic aesthetic by introducing mid century inspired pieces like the Modern Windsor chair and daybed alongside modified interpretations of more traditional pieces, such as the Ellery chair or the Essex sofa. So, if you haven’t perused the West Elm website lately, take a look. As an added bonus, their vignettes have become more interesting – showing interiors that combine West Elm items with antiques, iconic pieces, and high-end splurges.
