Following a gut remodel by architect Jay Coupard, OreStudios was hired to select fixtures and furnishings for this mid-century house. Staying true to the home’s new interior, we designed clean, warm, and minimal rooms. We added soft colors to complement the warm oak floors and teak cabinets, pale rugs to reflect light, and carefully selected furnishings. Drawing inspiration from Danish and Finnish interiors of the 1930s and ’40s, the finished spaces feel appropriate for the era of the house without relying on design clichés. Emphasis was placed on selecting items with staying power rather than provenance, resulting in rooms that feel edited but extremely welcoming.

The owner has an active lifestyle but wanted home to be his refuge. We added blues and grays to soften the warm woods.

The home is full of a variety of textures, including mohair upholstery, thick wool rugs, and a terra cotta pendant that illuminates the dining room table.
