Featuring beautiful grounds, a family friendly floor plan, and generous space for entertaining, our clients purchased this twenty-year-old estate outside of Seattle despite its tired and dated finishes. Not wanting to reinvent the house, they asked OreStudios to leave the general layout intact while removing all of the finishes and fixtures in order to start fresh. They wanted the house to feel relaxed with a quiet glamour reflecting their well-traveled point of view.
Red oak, slate, and granite tile were replaced with a palette of white oak, richly veined marble and murky green-gray paints. Custom cabinets feature inset doors and drawers with flush bases scribed to the floor. Hardware and lighting fixtures are more contemporary than the rest of the remodel, reflecting the homeowners' singular perspective. The decoration was kept relatively neutral in deference to the views outside, with small doses of olive green and sky blue referencing the grounds surrounding the house.

The kitchen features custom cabinetry, glass pendants, and a wall covered in highly-reflective glazed terracotta tiles.

An exuberant chandelier floats over a dining table made of book-matched western walnut.

The rich paint palette was extended into the library, where dark paneling was refreshed with warm, moody neutrals.
