This serene, light-filled home was commissioned by a young family looking to create new roots in the Seattle area. Relocating from California, they engaged Silk Cavassa Marchetti Architecture to design a new residence for them, choosing a spectacular lot along the shores of Lake Washington.
With a brief emphasizing minimal, clean design combined with enough traditional details to avoid feeling sterile, OreStudios was tasked with selecting finishes and fixtures for the residence. Warm, pale oak in several shades of sand and smoke make up the flooring, cabinetry and running millwork. Softly veined stones and handmade tile are employed throughout for their quietly luxurious quality. And lighting was selected to punctuate the spaces and lend some glamour. Furnishings tend towards muted but sculptural forms, inviting inhabitants to relax and linger, with special attention paid to interesting but subdued color combinations.
The kitchen adjoins a breakfast nook and sitting room overlooking a private garden.
Sculptural furnishings in muted tones fill the living room, with its dramatically veined fireplace surround.
The soft, chalk-white exterior employs crisp detailing and features a custom walnut door.
